Will Return Later

Courtesy of Google Images

Whew! I apologize for my lack of posting. Things here have been b-u-s-y to say the least!

This past weekend, through rain and a missing staircase, we moved into our third story apartment in beautiful San Diego (more on that adventure later). Since then, it has been a mad dash to get the place unloaded while working through deadlines, illness, social engagements, and everything else that has been thrown our way. That means that posting about these somewhat comical endeavors has come to hault until further notice.

I took some before pictures of the new place and thanks to a great idea from a friend, will do a little "before and after" home tour for your viewing pleasure. Woohoo!

But for now, it's back to the grind. Hope to get the before pictures uploaded this weekend and catch you all up to speed on the happenings here in the sunny state!

Stay tuned!

Out on the Town

We got to see a lot more of San Diego this past weekend. And the weather was just right.

On Friday, I spent the afternoon playing in an all-woman's golf tournament. The theme was "Around the World" and some people really took it to the limit. The tourney was sponsored by local area reps, complete with all the food you could eat and all the booze you could drink. I mean, our first hole had a shot block. Hello, college.

I showed up completely unprepared. I have no clubs, no golf shoes, not even any balls or tees. I was honestly probably the only one there without any of these items, and probably the only one whose boyfriend works for one of the leading golf companies.
Embarrassing.

Cleopatra has returned.

That was the least of my worries, though. My first worry should have been that I have never swung a golf club a day in my life.
Or know which club to use at any point during the game.
Or why I was using that particular club.
Or the fact that I didn't know what a tee box was. Or where it was.
Or to remember what your ball looks like once you tee off.
Or maybe it should have been that I wasn't even sure where I was aiming.
Or how to keep score.
Or at the very least, how to get the golf cart to move.

I later found out it had to be in the ON position.
Ooooohhhh....

Leading the pack!

Luckily I was able to keep everyone entertained, whether or not I was intending to. I had to leave a little early (thank goodness... sparing myself any more embarrassment) so that we could make it to the Padres game. Finally... a sport I know a little something about.

Welcome to Petco Park!

The stadium was beautiful, albeit outdoors. Don't get me wrong, I love an outdoor stadium, but not when it is 65 degrees outside and I'm in shorts! I saw people carrying blankets and coats. This blew my mind. Never in my wildest dreams could I picture carrying along these articles to a baseball game in Texas. A football game, maybe... but never a baseball game. The Padres won and the garlic fries were out of this world. Winning!

Great seats!

The obligatory stadium photo.

Saturday evening, we went out to dinner in Little Italy with friends. Downtown San Diego is a beautiful place, and we are both itching to get back! Luckily, in less than one short week, we will live about 20 minutes closer. Woohoo!

Next weekend is the big move! Looking forward to not having to pay for laundry, having an oven, and maybe most importantly... DVR. It will be glorious.

26 is the old 25

Yum.

First, let me say thank you to my wonderful friends and family who wished me a happy birthday this past Wednesday! I don't care how old you are, birthday wishes always make you feel good! So, thank you guys :)

I had a wonderful day! My parents sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, and my sweet boyfriend took me out to a delicious dinner of Mexican food, margaritas, and even a cupcake! The candles were even glittery.

Does he know me, or does he know me?

Thanks Mom and Dad!

----------

Hard to believe it's already the weekend! I am playing in an all-women's golf tournament tomorrow afternoon, and we are hitting the Padres game tomorrow night for Titleist day at the ball park. Should be interesting all around... stay tuned.

Have a happy Friday!

Lights Out!

As most of you probably know by now, southern California (specifically San Diego county), parts of LA, Orange County, Arizona, and even New Mexico experienced a massive power outage yesterday and into this morning. While I was glad to have the two hour excuse from work, I made up for it on the two hour drive home seeing as all traffic lights were out of order. It was super.

Somewhere around 5:00 AM, power was restored, and we all had to go back to work.
No. Fun.

I noticed on my drive to work this morning that several cars were abandoned on the roadside. The gas pumps were not working yesterday afternoon, and people were getting stranded trying to get home. We sat next to a man at dinner last night at our hotel who we overheard say that he was staying here for the night, because he didn't have enough gas to get back to Orange County. Yikes...

As I was driving along observing all of the sad, ghostly looking abandoned cars, I was cut off by this happy, chugging dump truck. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that the driver had decorated the back of his truck with a giant spider. You can't tell from the picture, but he also had two scarecrows on either side of the tail lights. Classic.

Please, enjoy the following picture.

Ho hum. Just driving my dump truck.

We are off to enjoy a late dinner and drinks with a friend. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend, again! No big plans... but you never know what might come up :)

What are you guys up to this weekend?

Labor Day Love

Hope you all have enjoyed a long, relaxing Labor Day weekend!

We had a nice one here. Brunch two of the three days, shopping, lots of coffee, and plenty of lounging around. It was simply wonderful. It even rained today as we were enjoying our omelets and French toast. It seldom rains in California (so we're told) so this was a treat to behold. Just lovely.

We were also welcomed into September with the introduction of the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Everyone knows what this means. Fall is on its way!

Speaking of coffee... I purchased a coffee mug today from the Crate and Barrel Outlet (my only Labor Day sale purchase...$1.95...score!)
I am no longer at risk for selecting the wrong mug!

Meanwhile, we are thinking of our friends in south central Texas as they are fighting devastating wild fires. Hoping for relief and wishing we could send rain that way.

Hope you all have a safe week ahead.
